“Recently inspired by Lisa Gay Hamilton’s film Beah: A Black Woman Speaks, Anika’s National Liberation Poetry Tour is a one-woman poetry performance experience traveling across America to women’s prisons, coffee houses, juvenile detention centers, community centers/art spaces, halfway houses, colleges/universities, and bookstores. ”
Combining theater, poetry, workshop and social activism Anika’s Liberation Tour is something not to just witness, but to experience.
An educational, emotional community action peace, the Liberation Tour takes apart the notion of a “color blind” society and allows a safe space for the audience to speak on how racism has affected their own lives, and what they will do to stop it in its tracks following Anika’s own soul stirring words and poetry.
The tour is a beautiful event combining new media with loads of audience interaction.
